HDZ spent HRK 15.8m on election campaigning

THE governing Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party spent HRK 15.8 million on the last parliamentary election, the party said in a statement on Tuesday after submitting a financial report to the Electoral Commission.

Receipts for campaigning totalled HRK 15,885,411.90 while expenses amounted to HRK 15,877,845.45.

The HDZ said that HRK 11,576,021.75 came from its own treasury, while its coalition partner, the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), contributed HRK 201,921.85.

The HDZ received HRK 4,107,468.30 in donations, including HRK 1,113,900.00 from legal entities and HRK 2,993,568.30 from private individuals.

The party noted it had paid HRK 75,700.00 of unlawful donations into the state budget. It said that the bulk of this amount came from companies that used state aid for job retention in sectors affected by the corona crisis.
