THE NEW YORK TIMES has included Croatia on the list of countries that accept U.S. citizens as one of the few such countries on the Mediterranean, the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) reported today.

Ina Rodin, director of the CNTB office in New York, talked about the importance of this renowned American daily, stating that its website alone is visited by more than 400 million readers each month.

"I'm a U.S. Citizen, Where in the World Can I Go?"

In the article entitled "I am a U.S. Citizen, Where in the World Can I Go?" Croatia was named as one of the few countries on the Mediterranean that currently accepts Americans, who can easily enter the country upon presenting a reservation of accommodation.

"Every positive article in reputable and reliable media or sources such as the New York Times helps advertise Croatia to travelers all over the world. It is important that American travelers and other travelers from distant countries know that we are an open and safe destination, where the tourism industry adheres to all the prescribed epidemiological measures and protocols ", comments Kristjan Stanicic, director of the CNTB.

Croatia was described as a Mediterranean hot spot

The CNTB also mentioned that the American news portal The Daily Best, which has over 35 million monthly visits, published an article in which it described Croatia as a "breathtaking Mediterranean hot spot " that is open to American citizens.

Considering that the USA is in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and is only now starting to open up businesses, there is currently not much demand for vacations in Croatia. However, the CNTB considers these articles important because they indicate that Americans recognize Croatia as a possible tourist destination in these new circumstances. Air traffic to Europe is still sporadic, but once more airlines start flying to Europe, the CNTB hopes that American tourists will visit Croatia.
