The Dutch will have to go into self-isolation after visiting Croatia
DUTCH authorities announced that as of yesterday, Croatia is on their orange list of countries due to a significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases, and a 14-day self-isolation upon returning home is "strongly recommended" for Dutch citizens.
"Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, and Croatia will stay on the orange list for a while due to the epidemiological situation in those countries. If you still decide to travel there, it is strongly recommended that you go into a 14-day self-isolation immediately upon returning to the Netherlands", reads the website of the Dutch government.
"Currently, there is an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Croatia. Therefore, that country has been moved from our yellow list to the orange list," the government stated, noting that their citizens should only travel to Croatia if necessary.
Sudden changes are possible
The Dutch government also warns its citizens that the situation with any country can suddenly change, as well as that they should keep this in mind when making travel plans.
According to Minister Bozinovic, new measures will be adopted this weekend in Croatia, and we will soon find out exactly what those measures are.
"Some measures will become stricter," Bozinovic stated, and when asked by a journalist what measures exactly, he responded that the number of people at large gatherings would be limited to 100.
"It turns out we can't change the behavior of people overnight, and the fact is that all those gatherings where people normally hug are ideal for spreading the coronavirus," he added.
He says it is up to epidemiologists to decide what the new limit for large gatherings should be. Still, gatherings will certainly be limited to less than a hundred people, and new measures will be adopted starting this weekend.
